Three different ounces
The word “ounce” is used for three different things, and mixing them up is the usual cause of a wrong answer.

A troy ounce is about 10% heavier than an ordinary ounce, so a one ounce gold coin weighs 31.1 g, not 28.3 g.
A fluid ounce is a measure of space, not weight. A fluid ounce of water weighs close to one ounce, but a fluid ounce of honey weighs about one and a half ounces and a fluid ounce of flour weighs about half an ounce. Convert a recipe by weight only when it gives the amount by weight.
